THE MEANING OF MOTOHA YOSHIN RYU
 
MOTO-HA - 本派【もとは】has two connotations.

The first refers to the original style, and the teachings of Yasumoto soke's teachers, Minaki Saburoji 17th soke and Kanazawa Ichizu. The second identifies the ryu with Yasumoto soke's family name.
MOTO - 本【もと】 (n) (1) origin; source; (2) base; foundation.
HA - 派【は】 (n,n-suf) clique; faction; school.
 
YOSHIN - 楊心【やなぎしん】or willow heart refers to the core physiological strategies and training methods of the ryu.

YO - 楊【やなぎ】 (n) (1) willow tree.
SHIN - 心【しん】 (n) (1) heart; mind; (n,suf) (2) spirit; vitality; inner strength.
 

RYU - 流【りゅう】the kanji for ryu represent

s flowing water or a current. The meaning of a style or school refers to the flow of knowledge from the previous generations.

RYU - 流【りゅう】 (n,n-suf) style of; method of; manner of; school (of thought).
 
JUJUTSU - 柔術【じゅうじゅつ】 (n) jujitsu (classical Japanese martial art; jiujitsu; jujutsu.

The kanji for ju represents weakness; gentleness; softness. The meaning of jujutsu is to not oppose the (possibly stronger) opponents force with force but to redirect their energy in order to use it against them.
JU - (柔【やわ】 (adj-na) poorly-built; weak; insubstantial.
JUTSU - 術【じゅつ】 (n,n-suf) art; means; technique.
